Ireland..Southwest and Southeast Country House Tour.

 

 

Day 1: Arrive Dublin Airport/Dublin Seaports and transfer to accommodation.

Stay 1 night at Springfield, Celbridge, Co. Kildare.

Springfield can only be described as a splendidly comfortable and discrete accommodation in a haven of Georgian tranquillity and only 12 miles from Dublin. It has been refurbished by its present owner to a very high standard. With all rooms having private bathrooms and every modern convenience.

It is only minutes from one of Ireland’s finest golf course, the K Club, and in the middle of Kildare’s "Horse Country". Celbridge is a pretty little village with fine restaurants, pubs and superb little shops. Castletown House is at the end of the Village.

 

Day 2: After breakfast transfer south to Bansha in Co. Tipperary.

Stay 1 night at Bansha Castle, Bansha, Co. Tipperary.

Here you will find a beautiful old country house built in the 1700’s in lovely wooded grounds and gardens on the edge of Bansha Village. A warm welcome and superb food makes this gracious house an idea stay. Stop off in Cashel en-route to see the historic Rock of Cashel. The house has a snooker room and golf, walking, fishing and horse riding can be arranged locally. Children are welcome and dinner is served at 7-30pm if required and has a wine licence. There are 6 rooms which, 4 are en suite.

Day 3: After breakfast transfer via Limerick to Co. Kerry.

Stay 3 nights at Castlemorris House, Tralee, Co. Kerry.

A warm welcome awaits you at this 19th century Victorian home with private car park and grounds. Relax with complimentary afternoon tea in the drawing room and has open fires and friendly atmosphere. There are 6 tastefully decorated bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Enjoy home baking and irresistible breakfast. Dinner is served each evening if required and has a wine licence.

It is an eight minute walk to the centre of Tralee and convenient to Kerry beaches, golf, horse riding, fishing and walking. Castlemorris is an excellent base to explore Dingle Peninsula, Killarney Lakes and Ring of Kerry.

Day 6: After breakfast transfer South East via coastal roads to Co. Cork.

Stay 2 nights at Travara Lodge, Courtmacsherry, Co. Cork.

The Lodge is a sea facing modernised Georgian House, fishing boats bob a stones throw from the garden. Courtmacsherry is a gaily-painted seaside village, sheltered by woods of the Earl of Shannon’s old estate. The Lodge has six en suite bedrooms and children are welcome.

It is lively in summer, has exceptional restaurants, beach, pier, angling, riding, bird watching, woodland and coastal walks. It is close to Kinsale, Clonakilty and Cork City.

Day 8: After breakfast travel along the coast via Waterford and transfer to Kilkenny City.

Stay 1 night at Butler House, Kilkenny City.

Butler House is an elegant Georgian town house, restored by the Irish State Design Agency in the early 1970’s. Awarded AA QQQQ. The combination of contemporary design and period elegance in a location near Kilkenny Castle, with some rooms overlooking the Castle, provides an interesting and unique experience. There are thirteen en suite bedrooms but unsuitable for young children.

Kilkenny is know as the "medieval capital of Ireland" and has narrow winding streets and alleyways, excellent shopping and restaurants, and a very good guided tour of the Castle.

Day 9: After breakfast travel north through Wicklow to Killiney, Co. Dublin.

Stay 2 nights at Druid Lodge, Killiney, Co. Dublin.

Druid Lodge is a charming early Victorian house overlooking Killiney Bay on an acre of private grounds. Named after the adjoining ancient sacred site of the "Druids Chair", the lodge was formerly the home of John Dillon leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party, and still retains its old world ambience and charm. Killiney is well known for its spectacular views, lovely walks and unspoilt beach.

The Lodge is just a twenty minute drive from the heart of bustling Dublin City, the breath-taking natural landscapes of Wicklow, horse racing at Leopardstown and a selection of Championship golf courses. The heritage village of Dalkey, with its fine restaurants is just five minutes drive away. The DART Light Train transport system station is only ten minutes walk away and this takes 25 minutes to central Dublin. Dunlaoghaire Ferry is two miles.

Day 11: After breakfast transfer to Airport or Seaport or join another tour.

All accommodations have en suite private bathrooms unless otherwise stated.

Price is for 2 persons and based on sharing a double or twin room and includes breakfast if dinner not available there will be excellent local restaurants to choose from.
